It is an interesting time for humanity, poverty levels have been declining, providing guaranteed access to basic amenities and promoting entrepreneurship can be tackled elegantly owing to disruptive economic policies like Universal Basic Income ( UBI), mass slaughter based meat production for our consumption needs which has been a major contributor to the planet’s detrimental carbon footprint is now slowly making way for some soon to be viable bio-technology based greenhouse like cellular meat synthesis. Communication and access to information & people no matter where they are have been very efficiently solved and are still being innovated on by amazing companies like Google, Facebook , Jio(In India). Self driving & monitoring A.I ,sustainable engineering are raising the standards of automotive design & engineering possibilities to work with for vehicle designers everywhere. We could go on and on over a smart cup of coffee which heats itself. Behind every great problem solving strategy, there should be as always, smart tools, visionary thinkers & prompt doers. What gets them working together according to targeted short term and long term outcomes however is what we often come across as “Intelligent Design” So why is this all happening now? why not earlier?
Evolution.. Badum Tssss
The quality of effort or workmanship can be easily determined without looking at the final product by gauging the tools of the trade. Simply put, “the workman is as smart as his tools”. What this means is that evolution has been happening since times immemorial regardless of the chaos of history and as a result, the human species has been getting smarter owing to access & invention of more efficient tools in fundamental industries like farming, food production, housing, communication, transportation for example. This has been a result of our needs as elegantly described by Maslow’s Hierarchy, trial and error innovation as well as planned innovative execution of marvels like the pyramids of Giza *_*, the Great wall of China ^.^, Tesla roadster B|, Pizza :D, Google search 🔍 , MacOS 🍎, Youtube📹, Sony PS4 & Soft beverages.
The word “marvels” has been used for all the creations /products mentioned as each of these examples of great workmanship & research went through the same process of
i) Conceptualisation through trial and error as well as research
ii) Planning through hypotheses as well as experimental inferences
iii) Productisation to test the hypotheses
If it is just three steps, why isn’t everyone making great products already?
The crucial aspects which determine innovative & creative product development in today’s world perhaps are
- Access to reliable and credible information on existing products, ideas and problem solving approaches which already address what you are trying to create. Reinvent the wheel, Duplicate the wheel, make it a hexagon if you wish. Create the impossible.Solve a set of connected problems.
- Access to smart and efficient tools with the right design philosophy & outcomes, some of which are technologies ( Do more with Less).
- Access to thinkers & doers who understand the best product development & problem solving approaches
- Capital expenditure for realising the idea , awareness and keeping it going for as long as possible or needed.
- Affordability or time required to gain access to the solution developed once it is made available.
Companies like google, facebook, linkedin are already connecting the dots in terms of access to information and people using a very simple concept, an efficient algorithm with access to loads of data. This has resulted in the five aspects being possibly taken care of without the effort which earlier generations had to put in. The problem however is that, the access aspect isn’t the same at every point in the world. This should be something, which we can collectively address by turning to Sustainable Capitalism as well as Philanthropic large scale development ventures.
The Industries/Impact areas which matter the most a.k.a the Pillars Of Living..
Companies at the end of the day are here to serve the needs of people and people have various needs :). Hence, based on the daily & long term needs of people as well as civilization, we identified segments/areas we call “The Pillars of Living” which have an impact on our existence & well-being.
Our daily routine as well as long term needs for example can be linked to the Pillars of Living in this simplified representation:
i) Breathing ( Quality of living)
ii) Reading stuff, googling, youtube, research ( Education)
iii) Traveling to work or school/college ( Transportation, mobility)
iv) Staying fit and healthy ( Healthcare, Quality of living)
v) Conversing with social connections ( Communication)
vi) Working optimally and achieving goals in a timely fashion ( Productivity)
vii) Staying safe & secure ( Finance, Real world & Cyber security,Survellaince)
viii) Staying indoors ( Housing).
ix) Promoting yourself or your venture ( Advertising)
x) Playing the guitar, reading a book, listening to music , buying stuff on amazon, making your loved ones happy ( Entertainment)
xi) Eating nutritious and tasty food ( Utility & essential needs).
xii) Philanthropy ( Sharing is caring)
As you might have figured out , there are already a lot of companies & individuals tackling the Pillars of Living in various developed, developing & under developed nations. What we wanted to do was, empower them by powering access to the best information & methods available , the best tools and approaches in software, hardware, product design, relevant data and algorithms, the best short term and long term strategies as well as the right team mix of cross disciplinary thinkers and doers. Data driven decision making and strategic execution triumph over most traditional product development or problem solving approaches in terms of meeting required outcomes.
As a result of access to higher quality relevant information and better technologies, today’s companies tackling the pillars of living are able to provide services and products to the end users ( we are all end users of one product or the other) which are fundamentally changing the way we read, we breathe, we eat, we travel, we talk, we rejoice & so forth. The fourth industrial revolution is here to stay and propel the next one :).
We started Asrsti( pronounced Ashrishti, www.asrsti.co) with a very simple intention, to offer state of the art product & intellectual property development for Companies tackling the Pillars of Living & people using the very best of what Software, Hardware, Common sense ,Design & sustainable engineering techniques have to offer in the pillars of living. A.I, Automation,Blockchain, IOT, AR/VR & small scale manufacturing become useful and stop existing as mere buzzwords when they can be successfully used to serve the needs of people and businesses in a fundamentally more efficient fashion .
